What happens when a man walks into a bar?

Apparently… he walks straight into his future wife.

It was April 22, 2023, and Amy and Ryan were both out for a night on the town in beautiful St. George. And if you know St. George, you know there are only so many options for nightlife. Somehow, they both ended up at The Spiritual Bar in Ancestor Square — right in the heart of town.

Ryan was out with his friend Joe. Amy was out with her adult kids. Amy’s daughter-in-law, Melanie, had decided it was officially time for Amy to start dating again. Amy strongly disagreed.

Meanwhile, Ryan was feeling pretty confident that night. So when Melanie started waving him over from across the room, Ryan naturally thought, “Dang… this girl is trying to get my attention!”

Then came the plot twist.

After chatting for a few minutes, Melanie dropped the bomb:

"You’d be perfect for my mother-in-law.”

To say the wind left Ryan’s sails would be an understatement.

A few minutes later, Amy returned, and introductions were made. Melanie insisted they exchange numbers. Amy was immediately skeptical of the man sitting in a bar… drinking only a Diet Pepsi. But despite the red flags (or maybe because of them), they ended up talking and dancing for hours.

Eventually, it got late — way past Amy’s bedtime — so she headed to the bar to close out her tab. There was just one problem: she couldn’t read the receipt because her “old lady glasses” were in her car.

And who came to the rescue? That handsome man Ryan, who stepped up behind her and handed her his own “old man glasses” so she could read the bill.

Honestly, it was love at first bifocal.

They exchanged numbers that night, talked nonstop for the next few days, and went on their first date just four days later. Somewhere between the laughter, the adventures, the late-night talks, and learning that life can surprise you in the very best ways, they fell in love.

After two years of building a life together, Ryan proposed in November 2025, and of course, Amy said yes.

What started as a random night out in St. George became the beginning of their forever — proof that sometimes the best love stories show up when you least expect them.
